Iles This N' That Farm
We purchased her a quality little bay mare called Holly. Shortly after that, we had the opportunity to buy a little leopard stallion we called Bic. We were very much surprised when the following year, Holly surprised us with a little leopard colt. He was gorgeous! In the mean time, we had sold Bic and he had been gelded.
We were so impressed with this little leopard colt that we wanted more. We shopped around for some little mares to breed to our Flash, which we affectionately called him. We had difficulty finding little quality mare at that time. We did find two more, started the breeding program, and after a long time, now have many beautiful appaloosas.
We have used three different breeding lines besides our own. We purchased Landry's Charlie Boy, whose sire was Shadow Oaks Cock Robin, going back to Chianti. Then we bought Bozemans Frosty Feather, whose sire is Yellow Diamonds Little Feather. Our last purchase was Dell Teras Eagle, who goes back to Jim Dandy. With these three appaloosa lines plus our original line, we've been producing some very nice appaloosa minis with lots of color. We are now using two few-spot stallions, Apache Ace and Rocky. Ace is producing almost 100% color, and we'll get Rocky's first foals this spring.
Our little horse program began when our daughter, Pam, wanted a little horse to show in 4-H programs. My husband and I had always been active in 4-H and our children were very interested.
