Castle Rock Miniatures
Proudly introduces our herd sires and junior stallions

Senior Herd Falabella Stallion:

Grosshill's El Rey
A DIRECT "IN-UTERO" IMPORT FROM ARGENTINA
The "Backbone" of our Falabella Program

AMHA 29587 / AMHR 36469A / FMHA 354
Foaled: 08/11/1989
Black & White Pinto

Sire: La Ruina (Argentine import)
Dam: Cincha (Argentine import)

"EL REY" is a true 100% Argentine bred, Falabella stallion, whose name speaks for itself among Falabella breeders.

El Rey is the backbone of our Falabella program! He "wowed" me the first day he arrived at Castle Rock, and it has been a constant growing love since that first day!

El Rey is 31" and is an AMHA National Top Ten Senior Stallion. Born of imported parents, he has fathered over 30 registered FMHA/AMHA/AMHR foals during his 21+ years. His record of foals is very positive with over 60% mares, and 80% pintos, many being show quality.

As you can see from the pictures, El Rey has matured from his show days to a stallion of great presence, conformation and personality. He has that sweet disposition that Falabellas are known for, and in a herd situation, he treats his mares and all foals with love and care. We are looking forward to several new Falabella tri-registered foals from this well known, established Falabella stallion.

The History of "El Rey"
And The Limited Collection Sale

El Rey's sire: LA RUINA, and dam: CINCHA, were two of only 28 Falabella horses imported from Argentina for "THE LIMITED COLLECTION SALE" held on October 8th and 9th, 1988. The horses offered at the sale were individually selected from Maria Angelica Falabella's private foundation breeding stock, from her herd near Buenos Aires, Argentina. There were only two premier "macho" stallions offered, which were top-of-the-line herd sires with strong breeding characteristics. Each mare offered was chosen due to her high degree of conformation, refinement, movement and overall beauty.

LA RUINA -- Lot 19 -- as excerpted from the sale catalog:

"His name means "the ruin" and refers to someone who has "been around," is streetwise and tough. This black, mature "macho" stallion exudes an aura of tremendous power and bold presence. His lineage is one of exceptional quality. On both sides, the great-great-grandfathers were two of Senor Falabella's prize foundation herd sires. One of these prized sires, Apollo, produced the stallion, Napoleon. Napoleon is known as one of the most celebrated and famous miniature stallions in history. The strong characteristics of his great-grandsire, Napoleon, are immediately recognizable in La Ruina. He is a powerful mover displaying impressive hock action with an exceptional top line and tail set. His large eyes, flared nostrils and well-defined jaw compliment his finely chiseled head, showing perfect width between the eyes and a distinct dished face.

Most importantly, La Ruina has proven himself to be a consistent producer who passes his outstanding qualities onto his offspring."

CINCHA -- Lot 12 -- as excerpted from the sale catalog:
"Cincha is a black pinto mare, foaled July 21, 1980. She was chosen to be exported from the Maria Angelica Falabella farm in Argentina to The Limited Collection Sale in 1988 due to her high degree of conformation, refinement, movement and overall beauty. Cincha...A surcingle, or ... "Cheating at cards by marking the deck with minute dots to make certain one can always win."

It was thought at the time of the sale, Cincha was "open", however, this proved to be incorrect, and Cincha delivered Grosshill's El Rey the next season -- a wonderful bonus for the Grosshill farm!

Junior Falabella Herd Stallion

Porterfield's Falabella Voltimore

Born with that "Look At Me" attitude!

AMHA pending / AMHR 131419T / FMHA 1517
Foaled: 05/11/2011
Black Near-Fewspot Pintaloosa (per "The Appaloosa Project" 9/11)

Sire: Toyland Tamboro
Dam: S Starr Seven DD Fantasia

"Voltimore" is a 100% pure, Argentine lines Falabella, a black near-fewspot Pintaloosa colt--having the most beautiful fewspot appaloosa markings as well as showing the pinto "splash" traits of stockings and blue eyes. He also has outstanding conformation. As a near-fewspot his color patterns indicate that he should be a 100% color pattern producer in his breeding career, like his sire. This is something that Castle Rock has waited a long time to have in its Falabella program.

"Volt" is a direct son of TOYLAND TAMBORO, an outstanding incomplete expression of a leopard patterned Appaloosa with lightning marks on his legs (also per "The Appaloosa Project"), sired by TOYLAND PORTENTOSO. Tamboro's grandsire is PORTENTO, a black-blanketed appaloosa, with large black spots, out of GROSSHILL'S COMOFIN, a 29" black leopard appaloosa, purchased for $50,000 by the Grosshill Farm, who traveled to Argentina to choose a stallion, and imported him from Argentina. VOLT has the "LOOK AT ME!!" presence, and we may try him out in the show ring before using him as a herd sire. BUT WHAT A SIRE HE WILL BE!!!!

Volt's dam, DD FANTASIA, is a gorgeous, refined, Arabian-type bay leopard Pintaloosa (visual appaloosa) mare, the daughter of FALABELLA AF DON DIEGO, a beautiful liver chestnut pinto bred by Angelica Falabella, and imported from Argentina to her U.S. farm. DD is out of Sreenan's Amora -- a black Pintaloosa mare from the legendary CHIANTI and Regina Winery lines.

Junior Falabella Herd Stallion

MIM Kahlua N Creme

AMHA A187557 / AMHR 291659T / FMHA 1319
Foaled: 06/09/2008
Black Bay Pintaloosa, with Ice Blue Eyes

Sire: Toyland Taquito
Dam: Toyland Susietta

"K.C." is a 100% pure, Argentine lines Falabella, a tri-color Pintaloosa stallion--having both the pinto and leopard color patterns. He is a direct son of TOYLAND TAQUITO, the AMHA 2008 Reserve World Champion and the AMHA 2009 WORLD GRAND Champion Multi-colored Stallion and 2009 Top Ten Country Pleasure Driving Stallion.

KC is one of only two pure Falabella stallions produced by Taquito as of this writing, and he has inherited his sire's "WATCH ME" attitude and his strong, fluid movement and awesome floating trot that Falabellas are known for. He should excel as a driving horse in the future, and is expected to take his place beside his sire and grandsire in the winning show ring!

KC's dam is a direct daughter of GROSSHILL'S EL REY, an AMHA National Top Ten Senior Stallion, and senior herd sire here at Castle Rock. Her unique "black head" coloring can be traced to her imported granddam, CINCHA, a most impressive mare brought to the United States in 1988. This pretty trait has now passed through 4 generations, and with white snips and strips creates a most beautiful face, with large, perfectly placed eyes and well-defined jaw reminiscent of KC's Great-grandsire, LA RUINA, whose Argentine lineage is one of exceptional quality.

Falabella Herd Stallion:

Rancho Casa Bellas Chianti II
DIRECT SON OF THE LEGENDARY "CHIANTI"
THE "GRANDFATHER" OF APPALOOSA MINIATURES

Possibly the ONLY living and breeding Son of the Great "CHIANTI" alive today!

AMHA A04140 / AMHR 4107A / FMHA 396
Foaled: 03/23/1982
Black Roan Snowflake Appaloosa

Sire: CHIANTI (Argentine import)
Dam: Sherry (Argentine import)

"CHIANTI II" is a true 100% Argentine-line, Falabella stallion, whose sire is the legendary "CHIANTI" -- the famed miniature appaloosa import to the ranch John Ellena, owner of the Regina Winery, in 1962. In 1965 six horses were brought from the ranch to the Regina Winery grounds to pull the famous scaled down stagecoach which displayed the words "Regina Winery Stage Line, Buenos-Aires Argentina". Chianti was a part of the original "Six-horse Hitch."

Chianti II is a Driving Champion, and is possibly the ONLY living and breeding Son of the Great "CHIANTI" alive today! The first time I laid eyes on Chianti II at Sreenans Falabella Mini-horses of Florida farm, I just couldn't believe I was looking at a direct son of "THE CHIANTI!" Now he has arrived at Castle Rock and it is beyond belief.

Chianti II will take his place as the "Backbone" of our Regina Winery Falabella Program bringing his exceptional lines to our program -- hopefully for several years to come. Castle Rock will be his final home -- and although he has earned his retirement -- we are hoping he will continue breeding and grace our program with offspring in the future.

Chianti II's dam, "SHERRY" (a/k/a Rancho Casa Bellas Sherry) was also a PURE Falabella mare, imported to the Regina Winery in 1962, with Chianti, and was also part of the original "Six-horse Hitch." She was also shown in her early years, and achieved the status of Champion Senior Mare. Both Chianti and Sherry appeared in the famous Pasadena Rose Parade pulling the famous Regina Winery Stagecoach.

Chianti II is 32" and has sired over 39 registered FMHA/AMHA/AMHR foals during his 29 years. His record of foals is very positive with over 62% mares, with many being PURE Falabellas. Chianti II has that sweet disposition that Falabellas are known for. We are hoping for several new Falabella tri-registered foals from this exceptional son of the legendary "CHIANTI!"

Falabella Herd Stallion:

Painted Acres Mohegan Son

AMHA A187367 / AMHR 291497T / FMHA 1299
Foaled: 06/06/2008
Buckskin Pinto with Blue Eyes

Sire: Toyland Hobby Hobie
Dam: Sreenans Buckeroo

"MOHEGAN" is a 100% pure, Argentine lines Falabella, a Buckskin minimal pinto stallion. He is a direct son of TOYLAND HOBBY HOBIE, a strikingly beautiful, very well balanced, loudly tri-colored buckskin pinto stallion, that produces foals with great conformation every time. His striking color and markings are passed on to his foals, and Mohegan and his full sister, PA Holly Hobie are no exceptions.

Mohegan is one of only two pure Falabella stallions produced by Hobby Hobie as of this writing, who is from TOYLAND PICANTE SPLASHES, out of FLABY'S PICANTE, another imported Falabella stallion from Argentina.

Mohegan's dam, SREENANS BUCKEROO, is a gorgeous, very well balanced, solid buckskin daughter of MACHO and TRINKET, both of who were Falabella horses imported by the Sreenan's from Argentina in 1983. Sreenans Buckeroo, a retired show mare, was shown extensively in her younger years and did very well. She is known for producing extremely nice foals every time--evidence of her close ties to the direct Argentine Falabella farm.
