The Connection was formed in 1998 by Linda Mecham, Karen Santarosa and a short time later their friend Mary Staker joined the group. Not quite knowing what we were looking at but knowing we needed whatever it was, we asked around. Dale Lutke took us under his wing and explained what we were seeing and how it came about, and that was the beginning of our love for the Seth Thomas horses. We made our first purchase in the fall of 1998. Sight unseen, five fillies made their way to Utah. We couldn't have picked better if we had hand picked them ourselves. They were awsome! Four of these fillies were double bred Seth Thomas and one was a Michigan filly. We were excited.
In the fall of 1999, we were blessed to include in our little herd the sire of many of the Seth Thomas horses, BHR Lerwick #138812A / 18140. Little did we know he would only be with us a few years.
The versatility of this bloodline is unbelievable. They can go from hot hot to calm and gentle, from hand classes to championship driving classes, all with the same horse. All you have to do is ask.
I am very fortunate to own the stallion D&S Fast Break #226136 / 150508A out of a Seth Thomas mare and a grandson of BHR Lerwick. He is a remarkable stallion. He has only been shown for one year with wins in all classes both in hand and in driving, with the exception of one second place. Fast Break had colic surgery in August 2006 and is doing wonderful. We are expecting to hit the show ring again in the spring of 2007. | |

D & S Pretty Little Angel Eyes #149349A / 216416 is a chestnut mare I have been using in Roadster. Thanks to Parnell Stables, she brought home the Futurity Roadster Championship as a three year old and also won her Roadster class at the National show the following year. Angel is on maternity leave right now. We are expecting an awesome foal from her and D & S Fast Break in March 2007. |
| Last but not least is D & S Little Town Flirt # 149351 / 126420A, an unbelieveable little mare owned by Larry Parnell and Linda Mecham. Flirt was shown at the national Show as a weanling and won her Futurity class, came back as a three year old and won the three year old Futurity halter class, and the three year old Futurity driving class at Nationals. Flirt has been shown exclusively by Parnell Stables and is undefeated in Open Driving and in Park Harness. Flirt was also named preformance "Horse Of the Year" in the under division for 2005. | |
My breeding program is Seth Thomas! Of the horses I own on my little farm in Manila Utah, 95% of them are Seth Thomas bloodline. The spring will bring three new foals, all double Seth Thomas bred, and by fall I am sure you will see them in the show ring. This bloodline is everything I could want and with careful out crossing these horses are unbeatable.
