We started raising Standard Donkeys for breaking our full size horses to lead. We found that they make excellent pasture protectors for our miniature herds. They keep coyotes and nuisance dogs out of their pastures and we are comfortable leaving the miniatures out all night with their 'guard donkey' on duty. I highly recommend to anyone pasturing miniatures to use a donkey for a guard. They are all registered, with the American Donkey Registry and/or with the Miniature Donkey Registry. The individual prices might be anywhere from $100 to $500.
