Don't cry for the horses
That life has set free
A million white horses
forever to be
Don't cry for the horses
Now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance
To a heavenly band
They were ours as a gift
But never to keep
As they close their eyes
Forever to sleep
Their spirits unbound
On silver wings they fly
A million white horses
Against the blue sky
Look up into heaven
You'll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing
They gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine
Don't cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way
Do you hear that soft nicker
Close to your ear
Don't cry for the horses
Love the ones that are here | SORROW - although it only has two syllables it is a big word.
This year 2009 brought many firsts for us. It was our first breeding year. It was the first time we experienced the excitement and overwhelming joy of watching a foal being born. It was also the first time we experienced the grief and despair of losing a foal. I have listened with sadness to my friends tell their stories of losing a mare, a stallion or a foal, but had no idea of the sorrow that comes with that loss. My Lily lost her first foal. She waited patiently for her baby. Although Lily was a maiden mare she must have known it was coming. She watched the other foals and stayed near them all the time just waiting for one of her own to love. But it was not meant to be. Lily's Lil Butterfly never got her chance to run in our pastures and feel the nurturing nuzzle of her mama. But she was loved, and she is missed. Although our hearts are broken we must remember that God thought she was so special that he decided to keep her for himself. Run free and wild in God's green pastures sweet dear Lil Butterfly.
She was just like a Butterfly that only graces our world with their beauty for such a brief time.

CCMF Lunar Eclipse
Born 3/3/2007 - Died 8/24/2009
We lost our Eclipse very suddenly without any warning. She was carrying her first foal, a little colt. Eclipse was very special to us, not only because she was so beautiful but because she had eyes that looked into your soul. She seemed to be asking me a question all the time. I will miss her soulful eyes looking up at me with a simple thought, can I trust you? Well Eclipse you can trust that we loved you very much and I will miss looking out into my pasture and being amazed by your beauty every time.
My baby daughter Koral Star recently told me "It's okay to fly after a rain storm". She didn't know at the time how much those words meant to me but I will try to remember them every time I fall down.
Gone but never forgotten, good bye Eclipse. Try and find Lil Butterfly and tell her how much we loved you both.

I try to remember that in this wonderful amazing world of breeding these little creatures heart break is sure to follow. We have to treasure the miracles and mourn the losses and keep on going. Today we lost our Star. She was a gift and we knew she was a KEEPER the second we saw her blossom. It turned out we named her very appropriate because now she will be a bright Star in the night sky looking down on us. For all the joy, love and dreams you brought to us in your very short life we thank you, we will miss you running after us and calling with your gentle baby knicker and remember how proud you stood in our pasture. The World seems a little less bright without you in it. Go in peace my sweet baby girl.
