John has been training horses of various breeds for over 50 years, starting out with Work (or draft) horses, for that is how they worked their farm when John was young. Later, as a working ranch hand in Alberta he trained many horses for riding and working on the ranches that he worked on. At home, he bred and raised Quarter horses and the kids always had ponies and saddle horses to ride.

Amelia was always a little timid of the big horses, and one day John took her to see some miniature horses, and as the saying goes the rest is history.

John has trained and shown Murray's Miniature Horses all the way to the National level, and has many National Top Ten Horses on the farm. In addition, John has a National Champion and three Reserve National champions to his credit.

John began to teach the grandchildren and Amelia to show these adorable small equines and Murray's Miniatures have successfully competed for ten years on the show circuits in both AMHA and AMHR in Canada and the United States.

Last year, John had the opportunity to show and train some horses for another farm, so he turned professional in 2005, with great success. Showing five horses at Nationals in 2005, he achieved a National Champion, a Reserve National Champion, and received NINE National Top Ten Ribbons, as well as three stake driving class ribbons. John has also brought their stallion, Boones Little Buckeroo Charmer, to his Hall Of Fame in Country Pleasure Driving.

If you are interested in having your horse shown to its utmost potential, please contact John for reasonable rates for training.

Training is offered in both Halter & Performance disciplines. Also offered are clinics on show grooming, conditioning and Halter and Driving tips for the show ring. These can be arranged individually or in groups.
